Sports Recap - Week 9

This week was a grind for the teams that played in the TCBA. Teams had do everything they could to put points on the board in order to help give their teams a chance to win the game. In the First match-up of the night we saw Perth/Toronto West come out executing the game plan and not looking back. Their ability to move the ball effectively and efficiently allowed them to score easily, cause mental mistakes on the opposing defense and get to the free throw line early and often. Unfortunately for Daniel's Warriors they were not able to get their defense going early which in-turn led to a struggling offense and a loss.

The Toronto East and Malton game was a nail biter as both teams had those who were watching at their feet at times. Toronto East scored the first bucket, had a great first half start as they worked inside the perimeter and had great transitional defense which resulted in four fast breaks. Later on during the first half they started turning the ball over. This resulted in Malton's most dynamic player, #5 Burnett Antony, keeping the game close by scoring 12 of the 18 team points. This allowed the Malton team to get the big men in the game by using size down low and getting to the line to take a 25 to 23 lead at half time. In the second half, both teams had some struggles trying to execute effectively playing into each other's hands. Both teams continued to battle it out which lead to overtime. In overtime both teams came out hungry for the win. Malton attacked inside to get easy points or go to the line. Toronto east keyed in on this and did like wise which in-turn led to the third tie in the TCBA. Be sure to come out and watch your team play as the league gets more exciting every week.
