The evening game between the Brampton Royals and Perth/Toronto West was definitely a nail biter. Their night began with a steady flow of offense with each team trying to establish their game plan early. With early offensive and defensive struggles by Perth/Toronto West brampton was able to gain the lead and get momentum going on their side. With something needed to be done, Perth/Toronto West went back to the drawing board and came out with a new strategy to get back in the game. With ball rotation it opened up the defense which allowed them to drive to the basket and crash the boards for second chance shots from inside or outside the perimeter on the on the kick out which let them take the lead by three going into the second half. At the beginning of the second Brampton came out playing with conviction to close out the game. With the young talent on their team they were flying all over the court on offense and quickly getting back on defense to make stops. Perth/Toronto West was patient all night and didn't force anything that wasn't there. They just kept rotating and setting screens waiting for the easy bucket. With a few seconds left in the game, Brampton got the ball and called for a time out which was pivotal in letting black tie the game for overtime.
Overtime was dynamic as both teams came out fighting for the win. Everyone was locked up on their man, it was very physical as both teams exchanged points and tried to stop each other on defense. With the ball back in Brampton's hands with a few seconds left on the clock Perth/Toronto West made an outstanding play to jar the ball loose. With both teams fumbling for the ball on the game clock ran out leading to the second tie of the season.
With the season heating up be sure to come out and support!
