Sports Recap - Week 1

The official kickoff to the TCBA began in great fashion last week. There was a pleasing turnout of support for all teams that participated in this event. The evening began with a game between between Daniel's Warriors and Malton Seventh-day Adventist Church where both teams had great play and put up a significant amount of points. The final score was determined by a margin of 8 points with Malton taking a 60 to 52 victory over Daniel's warriors.

The night concluded with a game between Toronto East and the Brampton Royals. From the start of the game, Brampton established a steady offense and great defense in transition. Toronto East battled back from deficits to keep themselves alive through 2 halves of action. Even amongst lineup changes, it was clear that the Toronto East coaching staff were trying to get a feel for their situational play makers to correctly adjust the players during the rest of the season. At the end of the game, Brampton Royals hung on for the 49-42 win edging off Toronto East by capitalizing on points in the paint and turnovers. Given the competitive nature of both teams, I expect them to have great seasons along with the other teams in this league.

The season is still early and nobody has established themselves as the titans of the league yet so expect to see really close games that might be decided in the final minutes. Today, be sure to see 2 great match ups: Malton SDA vs. Brampton Royals and Toronto East vs. Perth/Toronto West. This should be a great week for the TCBA. Hope to see you there.
